Summary

Ken Follett’s The Key to Rebecca took readers and critics by storm when first published more than twenty years ago。 Today, it remains one of the best espionage novels ever written。 Look out for Ken’s newest book, A Column of Fire, available now。

A brilliant and ruthless Nazi master agent is on the loose in Cairo。 His mission is to send Rommel’s advancing army the secrets that will unlock the city’s doors。 In all of Cairo, only two people can stop him。 One is a down-on-his-luck English officer no one will listen to。 The other is a vulnerable young Jewish girl。 。 。 。

The key to Rebecca is another exciting adventure full of fast-paced action as the end approaches。 Two men and two women dominate the pages and reveal various strengths and weaknesses as power shifts back and forth against the backdrop of shifting control in the World War II British and German battles for dominance in Egypt。The author’s understanding of fear, greed, lust, jealousy, and anger are on full display。

I could not put it down。I could not put it down。 As always, Folletts books are riveting。 I did miss a wrap up at the end setting out parts that were fact 。

Hard to get into, very poorly edited。This book was hard enough to get into but when the character "Kemel" was called "Kernel" every other time he was being referenced it got VERY frustrating。 Absolutely hated this tiring book, a total waste of money。 Hard to get into, very poorly edited。This book was hard enough to get into but when the character "Kemel" was called "Kernel" every other time he was being referenced it got VERY frustrating。 Absolutely hated this tiring book, a total waste of money。 。。。more

Of the many books by Ken Follett I've read, this remains my absolute favorite。 I love the middle-eastern setting, as it adds warmth and mystery to the story。 All the characters are just great, and I like how the author provides them all with back stories so that the reader can fully appreciate what drives them。 The plot is very well built, the pace is just great and all the twists and turns of the story are simply clever。 The historical period is one of my favorite and it provides such a dramati Of the many books by Ken Follett I've read, this remains my absolute favorite。 I love the middle-eastern setting, as it adds warmth and mystery to the story。 All the characters are just great, and I like how the author provides them all with back stories so that the reader can fully appreciate what drives them。 The plot is very well built, the pace is just great and all the twists and turns of the story are simply clever。 The historical period is one of my favorite and it provides such a dramatic backdrop, raising the stakes even higher。 Beautiful and well written。 。。。more

Som i de fleste andre Follett-bøger, så er der et fint plot, men forfatteren fortaber sig i seksuelle fantasier。

Will Rommel’s get the best of the British?A great story interwoven with multiple main characters。 Suspense is full as you are waiting for something really bad to happen。 Follett provides another great page turner

It's been called one of the best espionage novels ever。 It's certainly as good and interesting as Eye Of The Needle。 Follett is at home here with all the twists and suspense, as Rommel threatens to capture Cairo in 1942。 An Arab-German spy is under pressure to produce vital information, and a British office is alone in recognizing the danger if he continues。 Two women and a young boy are pawns in this intricate game。 Quick read for me。 It's been called one of the best espionage novels ever。 It's certainly as good and interesting as Eye Of The Needle。 Follett is at home here with all the twists and suspense, as Rommel threatens to capture Cairo in 1942。 An Arab-German spy is under pressure to produce vital information, and a British office is alone in recognizing the danger if he continues。 Two women and a young boy are pawns in this intricate game。 Quick read for me。 。。。more

Possibly even better than 'Eye of the Needle' for me。 The characters in this book are truly fascinating and the stakes are so high that you can't put the book down。 The setting is very interesting and I loved to explore the streets of Cairo through the eyes of all protagonists。 Possibly even better than 'Eye of the Needle' for me。 The characters in this book are truly fascinating and the stakes are so high that you can't put the book down。 The setting is very interesting and I loved to explore the streets of Cairo through the eyes of all protagonists。 。。。more

Um livro de espionagem que nos seduz da primeira à última página。

Based on the Desert attack during World War 2, this is a good read。 It’s just not a brilliant, memorable, kept at the edge of your seat read。 Follett has written some truly amazing books and then some decent books。 For me, this is just a decent book。 It was a bit too ‘tally-ho, good chap’ British for me。

Marin Srok

Well written, fun and engaging and a good read。 Characters are well developed and there is enough plot not to be bored。 Not going to spoil anything。

Jack Rilkoff

This was a good read。 The story and plots show the raw talent of the author that becomes more polished in later books。

A great adventure。 Middle East, Nazis, whores, codes! If you don't develop allergy to the naivity of the old plot, you will enjoy it。 A great adventure。 Middle East, Nazis, whores, codes! If you don't develop allergy to the naivity of the old plot, you will enjoy it。 。。。more

I liked this book about espionage between Germany and England during the Second World War。 Both sides were trying to break each other's codes in this game of dealing, double dealing and triple dealing。 For a war book, there was little vulgar language used。 Sex, however, was a one way, two ways and three ways spy game。Thank you, Mr。 Follett, for a good read。 I liked this book about espionage between Germany and England during the Second World War。 Both sides were trying to break each other's codes in this game of dealing, double dealing and triple dealing。 For a war book, there was little vulgar language used。 Sex, however, was a one way, two ways and three ways spy game。Thank you, Mr。 Follett, for a good read。 。。。more

Ken is a fabulous author。 The excitement and anxiety he can create from one chapter to the next is incredible。 It truly is hard to put his books down。

Having lived in Egypt and based in Assuit, I found some of the descriptions of the desert, the Nile and Cairo very evocative 。As in keeping with his more historical novels, the author successfully weaves fact and fiction to compose a good read。

The action is incredible and I really like trying to visualize the settings Follett builds up。

Steady stream of tension filled writing that glues you to the page。 Had me thirsty for more and more as the story progressed。 Ending fell flat however, as they often do in my opinion。

This was an excellent spy thriller, but what I liked most is that it almost read like a non-fiction book, filling in the cloak and dagger details that "could have" made the defeat of Rommel possible。 It has fueled my interest to read more true history of this often overlooked front in WWII。 This was an excellent spy thriller, but what I liked most is that it almost read like a non-fiction book, filling in the cloak and dagger details that "could have" made the defeat of Rommel possible。 It has fueled my interest to read more true history of this often overlooked front in WWII。 。。。more

Good read。 Goes for a bit too long I think。 You always think OK this is where it will end but it keeps going。 Many twists but the ending is very rushed and pretty uneventful

The author managed to write a nerve wracking Spy Thriller spinned around the North African campaign in Egypt during WW2。As a reader I was completely immersed from beginning to the end。 Especially the second half of the book moves very fast and keeps the reader on the edge。 The depiction of the Egyptian society of the time and the cat and mouse game between the English protagonist and the German antagonist was extremely captivating。
